Senior & Mature Dog & Cat Food (7+) Australia
Senior pet food is designed for cats and dogs aged about 7 and over, with controlled calories, highly digestible protein and added nutrients for joints and kidneys. Our current range focuses on mature cats, with dry food and wet pouches delivered across Melbourne.
What changes in a senior pet's diet?
- Calories: older, less active pets often need fewer calories to avoid weight gain.
- Protein quality: highly digestible protein helps maintain muscle.
- Moisture: wet food adds water, which helps cats that drink little.
- Joint and urinary support: some recipes add omega-3s or controlled minerals.
How to choose and switch
- Book a senior vet check, ideally every 6–12 months, before changing diets, especially if your pet has kidney, thyroid or dental issues.
- Pick a 7+ formula that suits their lifestyle (indoor, weight, urinary or joint focus).
- Transition over 7–10 days, or longer for fussy older cats.
- Weigh your pet monthly and adjust portions.
Unexplained weight loss, increased thirst, vomiting or a sudden loss of appetite need a vet visit, not just a food change. For overweight seniors, see our weight management range; ageing joints may also benefit from green-lipped mussel supplements.

Frequently asked questions
At what age is a cat or dog considered senior?
Most cats and small to medium dogs are considered mature from about 7 years. Large and giant breed dogs can age sooner, from around 5–6 years.
Does my senior pet need a special diet?
Not always. A healthy older pet maintaining good weight may do well on its current food. A senior formula helps when weight, activity or digestion changes, so ask your vet at their next check-up.
Is wet food better for older cats?
Wet food adds moisture and is often easier to eat for cats with dental wear. Many owners feed a mix of wet and dry.
Are these senior foods prescription kidney diets?
No. These are everyday senior diets. Cats or dogs diagnosed with kidney disease may need a vet-prescribed renal diet.
